INTERVIEW DELAYED DUE TO MEDICAL

This is the worst day ever!!!
After all the medical was done, I was told that my xray shows "suspicious" infiltrates.  The nurse set a 3-day sputum schedule for me. The test is included in the medical fee.  Just make sure though you come early as I met someone who paid extra for sputum for showing up late.

Preparation for Day 1
1. Bring the sputum schedule slip
2. Passport
3. Sleep early
4. Don't wear lipstick
5. No breakfast
6.  Don't use mouthwash

Note: if there are food particles or other chemicals present on the sample they may ask you to repeat (extra fee).
Upon arrival, proceed to the left side of the building where monoblock chairs are lined.  Present your passport and the sputum schedule slip to the guard in exchange of a queue number.  Nothing to worry as there is a hospital staff that will lead u to the elevator as soon as its your turn.  Second and thirdday is pretty much the same.

PULMONARY EVALUATION
On the 3rd day after sputum, the staff will give you another slip for the schedule of the doctor's evaluation. As always come as scheduled and on time to avoid additional fees.  Follow which floor you are scheduled to and advise the nurse of you appointment soon as you arrive.  Mine was scheduled five days after, in time when the "smear" result is due.....and chancharararannnn:Negative!
So happy I can't wait to be home and call my husband to share the good news.  Oh well, I still yet to wait for the "culture result"  which will due in 7 weeks but this is a good start and a good sign too!

While waiting for the results, you have to keep your communications line open.  According to the nurse, I will get a call if ever along the 7 week of wait the sample turns positive.  I'm telling you, everytime you wake up in the morning you willl wish that the darn phone would never ring!!!hahaha!
On the due date, I emailed SLEC asking for the results.  They promptly reply that the result is ready and I should come back the next day for immunization.

I am so happy that the long hours of researching paid off.  I actually sent the email Inquiry to SLEC while I was already at the airport.  Everything seemed to fall as planned. Here's what I did, I hope it will work for you too:
About two weeks before the date SLEC scheduled for me to call for the result of the "culture" test, I already scheduled my interview with USEM and booked my flight too.  Though it's true that SLEC can schedule an interview for you after releasing the result but the date availability is normally 2-3 weeks after.  Rationale behind is that If ever there should be further delays in the medical while in manila and I miss the appointment with USEM again then I will just take whatever the available schedule is that SLEC can grab for me.  As to the plane ticket, its way cheaper to book in advance.

TIMELINES

4/30 - Medical Exam
5/13-14-15 - Sputum Collection
5/22 - Pulmonary Evaluation
7/23 - Culture Result
7/24 - Immunization
7/27 - USEM interview

I thought this is the last struggle that I need to surpass..
But wait till I share with you my USEM interview experience (for a moment I thought i maybe the queen of the "kamalasan" jinx!!!
So whoever is going through the same right now, hang in there...there's always a beautiful and colorful rainbow after the rain.

Thank you for visiting my blog :)

    1. My interview went well. However, my case went on AP for about 2 weeks. I never thought they would ask for a new CENOMAR since I am already married.

Hello ma'am, I am on the process of waiting. It's still 5weeks that passed but I received an email to postponed my appointment date on Nov.20,2017. So my husband called St. Luke from America. The nurse said that i don't have TB. There was a bacilli growing but it surely is not a TB bacilli. Is this really possible that they have the result already without being completed the 8th week? I'm starting to have doubts. Still, hope for the best. Thy will be done.
    I hope you respond ma'am.

    1. Hi Karlo, I haven't have my result yet. My appointment is on the 20th. But based on the information given to me, they will be the one to set the date or rescheduled the US embassy interview. God bless.

    2. I doubt that Sara, my nephew has already been cleared in the culture test. The SLEC said that the applicant should be the one to schedule the interview thru the net. Im just having trouble scheduling thru the net because of their unclear instructions and not-user friendly website. While their also hard to reach thru phone because only landline can contact them. Haist..

  7. Hi, ohhh I see. I was told by the nurse that they will be the one to give a new appointment. Anyways, how did your nephew found about the result? Was he/she instructed to bring the passport and white slip?

P.S May I ask if where are you living now? If you are from U.S you can call the office by using the calling card. They will know it is an international call so they will pick it up.

  8. guys Im sorry for the late response..you can schedule your apoointment through the USEM website. Go to Visas tab and at the bottom of the page there’s a link to set up the schedule. You can also have the nurse do the appointment for u after your vaccines. Like what Ive mentioned above, I calculated the time Id be done with vaccination and set the closest appointment date on the website. I you rely on the appointment given by USEM it might take another week or two depending on the availability.

  9. Did they give you your results in a sealed envelope or did they send it to the embassy? I see your interview was two days later so I'm hoping you'll say they gave you the packet. Did you have to request it be given instead of courier Ed to the embassy? I'm hearing conflicting reports on this. Thanks

  10. I hand carried the result with the CD and I was told that they have forwarded a copy to the Embassy as well. I was advised to take the results and the cd together with the immunization record whenI leave the country as Immigration might ask for it upon entering the US (Immig did not ask for it when I arrived in NY).

  11. Hi! just want to ask, since you're the one who re-scheduled your interview after the culture test, did you tell SLEC that they don't need to call the embassy anymore to reschedule your interview because you already did it?

  12. I also want to add, how did you cancel your scheduled appointment? because it seems on the website there is no option to "cancel" the scheduled interview by NVC.

    1. I did not cancel the interview, SLEC took care of it. And in regards to your first question, after vaccination the personnel in the releasing section offered to schedule the interview but I declined and explained that I already made the appointment online.
